AUDIOBOOKS – How To Proactively Market Books You Narrate
Getting attention for an audiobook you’ve narrated can seem as daunting as getting the job in the first place! Yet, that attention may be as important to the overall success of a title as your performance. A review in a key publication, a blog post from a key influencer, or a tweet from an author can give you exposure to fans and listeners.
My presentation outlines tips and suggestions to help narrators who have completed audiobooks find and contact key influencers. I discuss specific recent examples of communications from narrators about their titles and assess what works—and why.

Robin Whitten is the founder and editor of AudioFile, an independent source of audiobook recommendations and reviews. Coordinating coverage of audiobooks since 1992, Whitten has built an audiobook discovery resource in print and online.
A current board member of the Audio Publishers Association (APA), Robin received a Special Achievement Award from the APA for her contributions in “building awareness of audiobooks and fostering growth of the audiobook industry.”
Robin has long been a champion of the art and craft of audio performance and narration. Started as a monthly print newsletter, AudioFile today is a multiplatform audiobook resource, publishing in print and online with eNewsletters, the AudioFileMagazine.com website, and Robin’s newest project, audiobookREX. REX is a mobile-friendly web app of title recommendations and reviews. AudioFile also maintains a select audiobook-only talent directory, the Audiobook Reference Guide.
AudioFile’s targeted readership is consumer listeners, as well as librarians and teachers who select and recommend audiobooks. The audiobook industry also reads AudioFile, and the Guide talent directory is an invaluable resource to audiobook producers and directors.
